Lettre envoyée à Mr. Charles Aznavour, pour l’enjoindre de rendre le prix indigne que lui a accordé l’Université Hébraïque de Jérusalem. Ecrite par une étudiante palestinienne, cette initiative est soutenue par la campagne BDS en France, en Palestine et en Israël…

Cher Mr. Aznavour,
Vous l’héritier de l’exil, le fils des rescapés du génocide arménien perpétré en 1915 dans l’Empire Ottoman par le gouvernement Jeunes Turcs.
Vous qui portez la revendication de vos terres ancestrales arméniennes.
Vous qui êtes à la quête de la reconnaissance par le gouvernement turc.
Vous qui luttez pour le retour des terres expropriées aux Arméniens.
Vous qui vous battez pour que la justice soit rendue, pour que la souffrance soit arrêtée, pour mettre fin au cauchemar vécu par vos ancêtres ;
Vous, vous devez comprendre et aider la juste lutte des Palestiniens.
Notre droit à lutter pour notre cause, à revendiquer notre droit à retourner sur nos terres volées, à faire que cesse l’injustice que l’on subit depuis 1948.
Nous souhaitons que justice soit rendue par l’application du droit international et des résolutions de l’ONU.
Aidez à arrêter la souffrance de nos enfants, de nos frères, de nos soeurs et de nos parents. Vous devez comprendre cette souffrance dont a également été victime le peuple Arménien. Aidez nos enfants à changer de regard sur ce monde qui n’est qu’injustice à leurs yeux, apprenez-les à désirer la vie. Donnez-leur l’espoir du retour.
Vous savez très bien le rapport au monde d’un survivant, vous connaissez les sentiments des réfugiés, la violence des traits qui peuvent rayer des terres des cartes.
Soulagez les palestiniens de cette frayeur interminable.
Aidez-les à chanter leur Palestine, comme vous avez chanté en 1988 Pour toi Arménie.
Offrez-leur le refrain :
« Tes printemps fleuriront encore
Tes beaux jours renaîtront encore
après l’hiver
Après l’enfer
Poussera l’arbre de vie
Pour toi Palestine
Tes saisons chanteront encore
Tes enfants bâtiront plus fort
Après l’horreur

Faites lever le monde pour des réfugiés oubliés.
Avec votre acceptation du prix Scopus 2011 attribué par l’Université Hébraïque vous contribuez, bien sûr sans le savoir, à étouffer le printemps attendu par les Palestiniens.
L’Université Hébraïque a joué un rôle central dans le projet sioniste dans presque tous les domaines, par exemple dans le plan de nettoyage ethnique contre les Palestiniens (Plan D) comme indiqué par Ilan Pappe dans son livre Nettoyage Ethnique. Certains universitaires ont préparés les cartes de villes, villages et quartiers qui devaient être « nettoyés » de leur population d’origine. Ils étaient parmi le comité de consultants, composé de douze membres pour concevoir ce plan et supervisé sa mise en oeuvre. Une partie du campus de cette université est d’ailleurs construite sur des terrains illégalement occupés après 1967. Cette institution coloniale a joué un rôle inouï dans la mise en place d’une situation coloniale posée par Israël. Aujourd’hui encore, Michael Federmann, ancien directeur de l’entreprise d’armement Elbit, est président du conseil d’administration de l’Université Hébraïque, et Carmi Gilon, ancien directeur des services secrets israéliens recherché pour crimes de guerre, est vice-président de cette université.
Nous espérons vous compter parmi ces artistes aussi différents que Jean-Luc Godard, Carlos Santana, Gilles Vignault, Dustin Hoffman ou Vanessa Paradis qui, par refus de servir de caution morale aux violations du droit international par Israël, ont récemment annulé leur voyage dans ce pays.
Les Palestiniens et les Arméniens ont une histoire qui fait appel à la grandeur de ce que peut être l’Homme et l’humanité. Marchez dans le sens de l’histoire, de notre histoire et de votre histoire : Monsieur Aznavour, je vous demande de rendre le prix Scopus !

Dear Mr. Aznavour,
You, who have lived under the legacy of exile, the son of survivors of the Armenian genocide carried out by the Young Turks of the Ottoman Empire;
You who continue to claim your ancestral Armenian lands;
You who seek recognition by the Turkish government;
You who struggle for the return of expropriated Armenian lands;
You who struggle for justice to be done, for the suffering to stop, for the nightmare lived by your ancestors to come to an end;
You, of all people, must understand and help the just struggle of the Palestinians.
The struggle for our cause, to claim our right to return to our stolen lands, to stop the injustice we have suffered since 1948. We want to see justice done through the application of international law and United Nations resolutions.
Help us to stop the suffering of our children, our brothers and sisters, our parents. You must surely understand this suffering, of which the Armenian people has also been victim. Help our children to change their view of this world, which they see as only a world of injustice. Teach them to want to go on living. Give them the hope of returning.
You well know the condition of a survivor, you know the feelings of refugees, you know the violence that can wipe lands from the map. Please help to relieve the Palestinians from their endless sorrow.
Help them to sing to their Palestine, just as in 1988 you sang For you Armenia. Offer them this refrain:
« Your springtimes will bloom again
Your beautiful days will dawn again
After the winter
After the hell
The tree of life will grow
For you, Palestine
Your seasons will sing again
Your children will grow stronger
After the horror
After the fear
God will care for your wounded land. »
Make the world rise up for the forgotten refugees.
By accepting the Scopus 2011 prize from the Hebrew University you have, unwittingly, contributed to the stifling of the Spring that the Palestinians are longing for.
The Hebrew University has played a central role in almost all the domains of the Zionist project, for example in the ethnic-cleansing plan against the Palestinians (Plan D), as described by Ilan Pappe in his book The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine. Some university faculty members drew up the maps of the towns, villages and areas that were to be “cleansed” of their native population. They were in the committee of consultants charged with designing the plan and seeing that it was implemented. Further, a part of that university’s campus is built upon land illegally occupied since 1967. This institution has played an extraordinary role in the setting-up of the colonial situation established by Israel. Even today, Michael Federmann, former director of the weapons firm Elbit, is chairman of Hebrew University’s board of governors; and Carmi Gilon, former director of the Israeli secret services and wanted for war crimes, is vice-president of that university.
We hope to number you among the artists as varied as Jean-Luc Godard, Carlos Santana, Gilles Vignault, Dustin Hoffman and Vanessa Paradis, who have all refused to provide moral support to Israel’s violations of international law and have recently cancelled their plans to visit the country.
The history of the Palestinians and Armenians cries out for the grandeur that man and humanity are capable of. Please walk on the right side of history, our history and your history; Mr. Aznavour, I appeal to you: please give back the Scopus prize!
