Monsieur le Directeur Général,
Nous avons appris que votre établissement prévoit d’ouvrir ses locaux à un salon organisé par le KKL le dimanche 2 février prochain.
Peut-être avez-vous été dupé par la publicité mensongère de cet organisme, qui prétend déployer des activités d’utilité publique et à vocation écologique.
Nous avons lu sur le site http://www.palaisbrongniart.com/ que le groupe GL events, dont relève le Palais Brongniart, a l’ambition de soutenir des valeurs sociales et écologiques, de faire du lieu « le creuset des nouvelles formes entrepreneuriales innovantes, solidaires et durables »
C’est pourquoi nous tenons à vous alerter sur la nature réelle du KKL et à vous expliquer que tout établissement soucieux du respect du droit international et des droits humains ne peut louer des salles à un organisme tel que le KKL
Le KKL organise en effet depuis sa création en 1901 et par tous moyens l’expropriation et la confiscation des terres palestiniennes au seul profit de personnes ou d’organismes juifs. Il est responsable de l’expulsion de centaines de milliers de Palestiniens et du vol ou de la destruction de leur patrimoine.
Les milliers d’arbres que l’organisme se vante d’avoir planté l’ont été sur les ruines des villages palestiniens de Galilée et du Néguev dynamités en 1948, et sur les territoires occupés par Israël depuis 1967.
C’est pour poursuivre ces objectifs illégaux que le KKL lève des fonds en France.
Il est aujourd’hui le fer de lance de la « judaïsation » du Néguev, c’est-à-dire de l’expulsion massive des Bédouins de leurs terres ancestrales pour les concentrer dans des villes-réserves. Ce processus de colonisation est largement condamné par les nombreux défenseurs du droit international, par l’O.N.U. et par l’Union Européenne, et a conduit l’Etat d’Israël à geler le « Plan Prawer » destiné à l’organiser.
Récemment, Monsieur le maire du 8ème arrondissement de Lyon a été convaincu de retirer une exposition sur le KKL.

Il serait donc indécent et insupportable à tout défenseur des droits humains que des locaux tels que ceux du prestigieux Palais Brongniart soient mis à disposition du KKL
La campagne contre le KKL s’inscrit dans la Campagne BDS (Boycott, Désinvestissement, Sanctions contre Israël jusqu’à ce que cet Etat se conforme au droit international). Cette campagne a été initiée par plus de 170 associations de la société civile palestinienne et s’inspire du mouvement qui avait contribué à mettre fin à l’apartheid en Afrique du Sud. Elle remporte de nombreux succès, qu’il s’agisse des boycotts économique, sportif, culturel ou universitaire.

Subject: Granting of Palais Brongniart premises to the KKL-JNF
Dear Sir,
We have learned that on 2 February your establishment intends to provide its premises for the holding of a fair organised by the KKL-JNF.
You have perhaps been misled by the false publicity of this body, which claims to carry out environmentally-friendly activities that are in the public interest.
On the website www.palaisbrongniart.com we read that the GL events Group managing the Palais Brongniart aims to support social and ecological values and to transform the premises into a “melting pot for new, innovative, socially-responsible and sustainable entrepreneurial activities”.
We therefore wish to alert you to the true nature of the KKL-JNF and to explain why any establishment wishing to respect international law and human rights would not grant the use of its premises to a such an institution.
Since its creation in 1901, the KKL-JNF has employed every available method to carry out the expropriation and confiscation of Palestinian land and to allocate it for the exclusive use of Jewish persons or bodies. It is responsible for the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their land, for the theft of their property and for the destruction of their heritage. The thousands of trees that the KKL-JNF now boasts of have been planted on top of the ruins of Palestinian villages in the Galilee and the Negev which were dynamited in 1948, and in the territories that have been occupied by Israel since 1967.
It is in order to pursue its illegal aims that the KKL-JNF carries out fund-raising activities in France.
The KKL-JNF is today the spearhead of the “judaisation” of the Negev, i.e. the forced, mass displacement of the Bedouin from their ancestral lands in order to concentrate them in a number of townships. This process of colonisation has been widely condemned by defenders of international law, by the United Nations and by the European Union, which has led the State of Israel to temporarily freeze the “Prawer Plan” designed to implement the process.

In the eyes of anyone defending human rights, it would be indecent and intolerable that the KKL-JNF be granted the use of premises such as those of the prestigious Palais Brongniart.
The campaign against the KKL-JNF is part of the international Boycott-Divestment-Sanctions (BDS) Campaign against Israel until that State complies with international law. The BDS Campaign, initiated in 2005 by more than 170 Palestinian civil-society associations, was inspired by the similar movement that contributed to ending apartheid in South Africa. Since its creation, it has achieved numerous victories around the world on the level of economic, sports, cultural and academic boycotts.
We trust that you will respond to our request that this reservation in February be cancelled. We are, of course, willing to meet you to discuss the matter.
