BNC En réponse au Premier Ministre français : le BDS promeut la justice et les droits universels

Le comité national de boycott, désinvestissements et sanctions (BNC) est profondément dérangé par les insinuations inexactes et provocatrices faites par le premier ministre français, François Fillon, pendant son discours au dîner annuel du conseil représentatif des institutions juives de France (CRDS), le 3 février 2010 [1].
M. Fillon a déclaré : «Nous devons rester lucides sur l’incroyable facilité avec laquelle se développent et s’expriment les amalgames les plus odieux. Je pense ainsi à ces scandaleux mouvements de boycott de produits cashers ou israéliens. Je m’étonne du silence, voire de la connivence de certains responsables politiques vis-à-vis de ces démarches révoltantes ». Pour information, le BNC et tous nos partenaires dans le monde n’ont jamais fait le moindre appel au boycott de produits cashers. C’est simplement faux. La campagne boycott, désinvestissements et sanctions (BDS) a constamment appelé à un boycott des produits israéliens en raison de la violation permanente par Israël du droit international et des droits des Palestiniens. Le BDS est basé sur un respect sans ambiguïté de la loi internationale et des droits humains universels ; en tant que tel il est catégoriquement opposé à toute forme de racisme et de discrimination raciale, y compris l’islamophobie et l’antisémitisme.
Les remarques de M. Fillon étaient incluses dans le contexte de l’expression d’un engagement à combattre l’antisémitisme, insinuant que le boycott contre les produits israéliens peut d’une certaine manière d’être antisémite. Cette affirmation sans fondement non seulement reflète une ignorance du mouvement BDS, c’est aussi une tentative à motivation clairement politique pour stigmatiser et salir la lutte visant à rendre Israël responsable devant la loi internationale pour son occupation permanente, l’apartheid, et les crimes de guerre, spécialement au vu du rapport Goldstone adopté par le Conseil des Droits de l’Homme des Nations Unies puis par une écrasante majorité de son Assemblée générale.
Le BNC est fier de compter beaucoup d’organisations juives et d’universitaires et personnalités culturelles juives de premier plan autour du monde, y compris en France et en Israël [2], comme alliées et partenaires dans la lutte pour la justice, la paix et le respect des droits humains. Comme dans la lutte contre l’apartheid sud-africain, la campagne BDS mondiale rapproche les personnes de conscience du monde entier, indépendamment de leur ethnicité, de leur religion, sexe ou autres attributs identitaires, pour engager des initiatives de boycott et de désinvestissements efficaces, moralement cohérentes, et non-violentes contre l’État d’Israël et ses institutions complices, dans la poursuite de la liberté, de l’autodétermination et de la pleine égalité pour le peuple palestinien. Cette lutte est destinée à mettre fin à l’occupation par Israël, au refus des droits des réfugiés et au système de discrimination raciale contre le peuple palestinien.
Le fait que le mouvement BDS ait connu une croissance impressionnante en France et dans beaucoup d’autres pays occidentaux au lendemain du massacre d’Israël contre les Palestiniens de Gaza cause Israël et ses apologistes en Occident à paniquer et à avoir recours au terrorisme intellectuel, à la diffamation, à l’intimidation et au mensonge dans leurs efforts désespérés pour cacher l’expansion du mouvement et son influence croissante sur la société civile internationale. Les remarques de M. Fillon ne peuvent être comprises que dans ce contexte.
Tandis que les gouvernements occidentaux ont approfondi leur collusion avec les graves violations israéliennes par Israël de la loi internationale, lui élargissant une aide massive, politique, économique, diplomatique, académique et autres, l’opinion publique mondiale se tourne de plus en plus contre l’impunité et l’exceptionnalisme d’Israël. Le mouvement BDS inspire et donne forces à beaucoup de gens dans le monde pour contribuer à la lutte pour la fin de la colonisation, de l’occupation et de l’apartheid d’Israël ; aucun mensonge, aucune affirmation infondée ne peut contrarier ou dissuader cette quête populaire internationale d’une paix juste.

BNC In response to French Prime Minister: BDS promotes justice and universal rights
PRESS RELEASE
The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC) is deeply disturbed by the inaccurate and inflammatory insinuations made by French Prime Minister, Francois Fillon, during his speech at the annual dinner of the Representative Council of French Jewish Institutions (CRIF), February 3, 2010.[1]
Mr. Fillon’s reportedly said: “We must remain clear-sighted about the incredible ease with which the most heinous conflations come about and are expressed. I’m thinking, for example of the scandalous movements to boycott Kosher or Israeli products. I am astounded by the silence, let alone the connivance, of certain political leaders in the face of these revolting actions.” For the record, the BNC and all our partners worldwide have never made any such call for boycotting kosher products. This is simply false. The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign has consistently advocated a boycott of Israeli products due to Israel’s persistent violation of international law and Palestinian rights. BDS is based on unambiguous respect for international law and universal human rights; as such, it is categorically opposed to all forms of racism and racial discrimination, including Islamophobia and anti-Semitism.
Mr. Fillon’s remarks came in the context of expressing commitment to fighting anti-Semitism, implying that the boycott against Israeli products may somehow be anti-Semitic. This baseless claim not only reflects ignorance of the BDS movement; it is clearly a politically-motivated attempt to stigmatize and smear the struggle to hold Israel accountable to international law for its ongoing occupation, apartheid and war crimes, especially in light of the Goldstone Report adopted by the United Nations Human Rights Council and, later, by an overwhelming majority at the General Assembly.
The BNC is proud to have many Jewish organizations and prominent Jewish academics and cultural figures around the world, including in France and Israel [2], as our allies and partners in the struggle for justice, peace and respect for human rights. As in the struggle against South African apartheid, the global BDS campaign brings together people of conscience from all over the world, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, gender or other identity attributes, to wage an effective, morally consistent, non-violent boycotts and divestment initiatives against the state of Israel and its complicit institutions in pursuit of freedom, self-determination and full equality for the Palestinian people. This struggle aims at ending Israel’s occupation, denial of refugee rights and system of racial discrimination against the Palestinian people.
The fact that the BDS movement has experienced impressive growth in France and several other Western countries in the aftermath of Israel’s massacre against the Palestinians in Gaza is causing Israel and its apologists in the West to panic and resort to intellectual terror, vilification, bullying and fabrication in their desperate attempts to hinder the movement’s spread and increasing influence on international civil society. Mr. Fillon’s remarks can only be understood in this context.
While Western governments have deepened their collusion with Israel’s grave violations of international law, extending to it massive political, economic, diplomatic, academic and other forms of aid, world public opinion is steadily shifting against Israel’s impunity and exceptionalism. The BDS movement is inspiring and empowering many around the world to contribute to the struggle to end Israel’s colonization, occupation and apartheid; no fabrications or unfounded claims can thwart or deter this popular international quest for just peace.
