C’est une nouvelle défaite que vient de rencontrer la société d’armement israélienne Elbit Systems.
En effet son offre de drones de reconnaissance Skylark 1LE pour un montant de 100 millions d’euros a été écartée par la France.
La société Elbit est en échec pour la deuxième fois, puisque son drone le Watchkeeper avait déjà été écarté par la France en début d’année 2016*.
La campagne BDS se félicite de l’échec commercial d’Elbit Systems !
En effet cette société** se sert de la population palestinienne comme cobaye pour tester ses armes, en violation de la Quatrième Convention de Genève. Elle produit également du phosphore blanc, arme chimique redoutable utilisée contre la population civile à Gaza, et participe directement à la construction du mur illégal en Cisjordanie, ainsi qu’aux infrastructures des colonies.
Ses drones ne cessent de menacer les populations de Gaza et de Cisjordanie.

La Campagne BDS France s’était activement mobilisée contre ce projet, dans le cadre de la campagne internationale pour l’embargo militaire d’Israël, la Campagne BDSFrance avait mené ces derniers mois une campagne active contre un tel achat par la France à travers, entre autres, l’envoi de milliers de cartes postales au Président de la République, de pétitions à l’attention du ministère de la défense et de deux journées d’actions nationales. La dernière, le 10 décembre 2016*** a mobilisé des dizaines de villes et des centaines de militants.
Nous remercions tous ceux qui ont participé à cette campagne qui s’inscrit pleinement dans l’appel du BNC (comité palestinien pour le BDS ) pour un embargo militaire contre Israël :

Pour autant, quel que soit le fournisseur, on ne peut se réjouir de l’acquisition de telles armes car on sait que ces drones dits « de reconnaissance » sont aussi utilisés pour aider à guider les tirs meurtriers des avions de chasse et sont indirectement létales.

The Israeli drone “Skylark” has not been selected by the French Army!

The Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems has suffered another defeat. Its bid to sell its Skylark 1LE drones to France for the sum of 100 million euros has been rejected.
This is the second defeat for Elbit Systems within the past year, as its “Watchkeeper” drone had already been rejected by France in early 2016*.
The BDS campaign is delighted at the commercial failure of Elbit Systems!
This firm** uses the Palestinian population as guinea pigs to test its weapons, in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention. It also produces White Phosphorus, the dreadful chemical weapon used against the civilian population in Gaza. It is directly participating in the construction and maintenance of the illegal wall in the West Bank, as well as contributing to infrastructure projects in the settlements.
The BDS France Campaign had strongly protested against this project.
In the framework of the international campaign for a military embargo of Israel, BDS France had for several months waged an active campaign against such a purchase by the French government: this included the despatch of thousands of postcards addressed to the President of the Republic, petitions to the Ministry of Defence, and two national days of protest. The most recent, on 10 December 2016***, took place in dozens of cities around France and mobilized hundreds of activists.

However, regardless of the chosen supplier, we can in no way celebrate the acquisition of such weapons. We know that these so-called “reconnaissance” drones are indirectly lethal, being employed to help guide deadly strikes by fighter jets.
